My daughter has been complaining of feeling like she has a slow heart rate, along with stressed breathing. Does anyone have any experience with this condition? She is 18.
Heart and breathing?: My daughter has been... - LUPUS UK
Heart and breathing?
She needs to get this checked out as lupus can affect your breathing.
You need to take her to the doctor and get them to check her pulse and ECG as an absolute basic and then have at least a 24-hour Holter ECG tracing to see what her heart is doing at various times of the day. It doesn't hurt and provides a lot of ino. Only then can ANYONE say what is possibly going on.
If she has a slow heart rate she will feel out of breath - the oxygen isn't getting to the tissues and beathing heavily is the natural response. Whether it is associated with an underlying autoimmune disorder of something else comes later - begin at the beginning.
When I have a particularly bad flare my heart rate can go as low as 38 bpm. I feel short of breath, chest pain, dizzy and tinnitus. I have always had a slow pulse and low bp. Since my diagnosis of sle 3 years ago and taking plaquenil these symptoms have been very mild. Prior to my diagnosis I was in the hospital twice. Went to the Cath lab. I was referred to an electrophysiologist to discuss a pacemaker. He sent me to a rheumatologist. After many years of thinking that I was crazy I finally had a diagnosis. If she is having bradycardia and difficulty breathing, she should probably seek medical help as there is th possibility of inadequate organ perfusion.
Thank you everyone. I realize I need to get some bloodwork done, and she may have to wear a monitor 24 hrs. My sister had to do this. I am in the process of getting health Insurance. We don't have any. Ugh.
Thought i could get through this stupid disease myself. Now my children are affected. I am angry.
