My mom was diagnosed with lupus a few months ago right before she turned 39. She has a full time job, 5 kids, 7 people in the house, she owns a farm with 22 horses, three are ours, 3 goats, 1 is ours, and 5 pigs, all are ours, and we are in Miami so its always in the mid 80’s.She is usually out putting sand in stalls or training the pigs, or working as a social worker, which believe me is stressful job, trying to find homes for people whose house burned down or got kicked out on top of working with uncooperative schools and parents. She works for big brothers big sisters of Miami. Is all this stress and hard work bad for her lupus? Will it cause her to have a stroke or something like that?

Hi Adee!
So it sounds like your mum works very hard- yes stress can make the symptoms of Lupus worse or cause a flare up.
Muscle/ joint pain and fatigue from the lupus it can be very hard and tiring to work. Especially physical labour.
You may notice she has to slow down or take more rest, really depends how severe it is.
I don't think Lupus increases the chance of a stroke, but long hours in the sun may cause sun stroke. Us lupies are sensitive to the Sun so make sure she's protected! Maybe talk to a doctor if you are conserned
Edit: I found this article if it may be helpful. To sum up: avoid the other risk factors of a stroke but Lupus may increase the risk. resources.lupus.org/entry/r...
