So my calorie counting weight loss has not been going to plan. I think a big part of that is what I eat. So I’m a plain person who doesn’t like spicy foods. I’m willing to try different things but can’t think of anything to try.
So wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what I could have for lunch at work and dinner at home. The lower the calories the better , I am aiming for 400 calories for lunch and dinner each .
Thanks 🙂

Its a difficult one but at this time of year soup is good. I got my husband one of those fat vacuum flask that are good for a portion of soup . A pot of home made soup would do a few day . A tuna and salad wrap is another healthy low cal lunch. I wish you luck , i have no willpower at the moment xx
Hello. As a previous post said home made soup is good and filling. Just don’t have bread and butter with It! Those thin breads make good sandwiches, no mayo! And at night stir fries made from scratch. Buy a low calorie cookery book. And give yourself a treat every day. A 100 calorie biscuit or mini choc bar makes me feel I’m not deprived. Good luck.
Can I suggest you join Slimming World it is not really a diet but healthy eating and not done on calorie counting. In fact there is very little weighing and measuring as well. I have always struggled with my weight and have tried lots of different things over the years even to the extent of drinking a glass of Cider Vinegar before I ate.
I joined Slimming World and lost 7 stone in 2 years
My daughter is also on slimming world as it doesn't count calories. She said that counting calories made her obsess with what she couldn't have. Slimming world teaches you cook as well. My daughter is a teacher, she has limited time to eat during the day and had a bad pattern of eating . She was binging at night when tired and as she has allergies and chronic eczema as a child was restricted food. This has made her comfort eater. Slimming world does say no to anything but teaches you how to eat in the long term. Have a look on line. I hope it helps, she takes pasta, chicken etc to work in quite large portions and says she in never hungry. Shae always makes sure she has fruit or green snacks.
Have a big glass of water before you eat a meal - that will go part of the way to giving you that fullness feeling. And I would say at this time of year soups for lunch are great. Home made is best. I make a big pot of soup which last a few days. Throw in lots of winter veggies.
As for dinner, up the veggy portion of your meal as well as having a big glass of water first.
Can't think of any recipes, sorry. I am someone who likes things to be super tasty. So I find if dishes are super tasty it brings on the feeling of satisfaction and thus you don't eat as much.
Good to hear you are on the right track. The trick with the water is to drink it a short while before you start eating your lunch. This gives time for the message from the stomach to go to the brain and say 'hey I'm not that hungry'.
I love humous with veggies to dip or spread on a wholemeal wrap with lots of greenery. So important to get those nutrients. I agree with the treat a day , mine's liquorice. Soups are great and you can add spinach and other goodies. Overnight oats layered in a jar with fruit and yoghurt are great for lunch. I could go on! Good luck x
Fruit and yogurt is my favourite light meal.....not sure about the Guinness in the evening! My gran used to say it was medicinal and who am I to disagree!!
My husband recently lost loads of weight by using the pre-measured sachets of porridge with semi skim milk. He added dry fruit too. It was particularly successful because of the slow release of energy and feeling of fullness it gives for a long time. He did that for breakfast and lunch then ate a normal evening meal. Xx
