Where to start!I've been quite poorly with scleroderma, and I also have PBC, Sjogrens, and hypothyroidism. I have osteoarthritis and hyper flexibility joint syndrome. I am ACA pos, AMA pos, Igm pos, gastric parietal cell antibody positive, and I have just found out that I'm anti ro pos, and anti sm pos. I also have marginally low complement (C3) and C4 in the past. I've asked my rheumatologist about having lupus and he says that I have clinical biomarkers. Currently taking hydroxychloriquine, Butec patches for joint pain from my osteoarthritis.Pain breaking through this so I have also been on Meloxicam for the last 10 days. I'm just wondering whether I will develop lupus on top of the scleroderma as it won't be an overlap, and whether anybody else has experience of this?

Hi MissusTee,
Welcome to the LUPUS UK HealthUnlocked Community!
According to The Lupus Encyclopedia, people can develop both lupus and scleroderma; the overlapping of both conditions can cause a distinctive rash to occur below the skin surface.
We published two factsheets called ‘LUPUS: and Associated Conditions’ and ‘LUPUS: and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease’ which you may like to read:

We offer a free information pack which discusses the symptoms of lupus and how it can be diagnosed. The pack can be downloaded or requested here: lupusuk.org.uk/request-info...
Please let us know how you get on, wishing you all the best.
Hi MissusTee! Wondering how it all panned out? Was SLE diagnosed? 😚 xxx
No, ATM they're just sticking with the stuff I've already got, and the rest are wait and see ones. I've got a lot of joint pain, but scleroderma causes that too. Thanks for asking!
