Do you have to sleep every afternoon even if you wake up at a decent time in the morning ? I do and makes me feel very lazy 😭

Yes ! My late husband used to send me up to bed for a nap every afternoon, now I just have a catnapl on the sofa. It's not laziness , just part of the Lupus fatigue & it's good for you . Don't feel bad about it.

I sleep every afternoon due to fatigue but luckily as I live in Spain I can call it a siesta!! I get up around 10am go back to bed at 2pm then get up around 6pm then go back to bed at 11pm.... Life seems to revolve around sleep!! Don't feel guilty or lazy, the fatigue is all part of lupus. Xx

Having a nap in the afternoon is more joyous than a night sleep. Anyway, we are lupy and deserve it, even if it seems some laziness!

I've had to do this for years now, else I simply don't function of an evening. I'm not in Spain; instead I call it my 'Scottish Siesta'. And very nice it is too....

Are you getting enough nutrients from your food. Do you eat breakfast and lunch. I always felt sleepy in the afternoons and needed a nap until I gave up grains and dairy - now eat healthily. I do get more tired in extremely cold or hot weather, but generally am able to go all day without sleeping until bedtime now. Occasionally I have a meditation at 5pm that can lead to 10 minutes nap. I have no grains until the evening meal and then only millet occasionally. I eat quinoa and amaranth instead. I have almond milk, sesame butter and nut butters instead of dairy. I am sure what we eat affects our energy levels especially as we grow older!

Hi tulips no

I too have a nap for an hour each day. Been doing it for years ever since having chronic fatigue! With lupus. It's whatever gets you thru so don't feel guilty or think your lazy. X

I would if I could!! Definately! I have 2 small children so can't but most nights am in bed at 7pm when they go and that's pretty much my daily life!

I get up, struggle to stay awake til dad gets home at 6.30 and then it starts again the next day!

Yesterday I battled like crazy to stay awake whilst reading 4 mr men books one after the other, could barely keep my eyes open.

This fatigue is the worst, I just want to sleep all the time. When I was free and single I used to have to go back to bed after being awake 2 hrs! Was off work a lot sick then reduced hours

Sara_A, this made me smile. I can't stay awake through story time either and I find that I can doze off mid sentence yet somehow can still hear words tumbling from my mouth as I sleep! The words are non-sensical gibberish and the children will wake me at this point and so the story-time saga will continue until we abandon it as futile!

The amount of times u actually read the books u can read them with ur eyes shut anyway! I've often been reading a story with my eyes shut.

I'm really struggling with managing to stay awake thru the day at the mo. Today by 12.30 lunchtime I could have cried I was so tired! I did manage to lay on sofa with kids with a film on and get the little one to fall asleep on me and I went off too. Think we had about an hr. I feel so bad cos as soon as my partner gets in at 6.30pm it's almost hi then bye I'm off to bed! I feel awful but don't know what else I can do I could just cry with tiredness x

Right now my Fatigue is my biggest hurdle...I guess that makes me fortunate from what I read here xoxo....But I do feel like a lazy sloth...so different from the old me....perhaps it is because of the crazy eating I have been doing.. breads deserts just too much during the holidays...I generally do not eat sweets and pasta and bread....but I'm on a roll with the carbs lately....sigh....

I know I feel worse on carbs, but once I start, I can not stop until I have eaten every cookie and cake left in my house from the Holidays....when I do get a grip, I am good at staying away.....nuts keep me satisfied when I crave of something yummy...

I had a little nap this afternoon. Though for me the need to nap comes if I have over done things the day before.

Many folk talk about tiredness coming on around 5pm. While others have a mid afternoon snooze.

I say go with the flow, if you need to nap and you can then go for it.
