Do I have Lupus?

Hi,

My name is Janine and I am 27 years old. I am 78 kgs and I am only 5'5". That means I am obese. I have recently delivered my second son via scheduled caesarean section. My first son is only 1 year and 7 months when I delivered my second. Both of them are delivered via CS. One was emergency the other was elective. It may also be important to note that I have recently lost my dad 3 months ago. He died 3 days postsurgery. He underwent bypass surgery but still died due to serial cardia arrest.

1. I have choronic rashes - no identified triggers. They're chronic. They have started Sep 29. They have learned tolerance of the only over the counter antihistamine that I know. Now, even with 2 tablets of Virlix - i still get breakouts. And every time, they get redder and itchier.

2. I have adrenal fatigue. I get tired easily. I get sleepy easily. I get muscle pains near my chest and my back and my arms and my legs.

3. I have falling hair.

4. I have brain fog and anxiety. So much that it affects my social and professional life.

5. I have trouble losing weight.

What I have tried so far:

1. Seeing a dermatologist who recommended change of soap and avoiding heat and sweat. Also recommended more water intake. No luck.

2. Saw an internist who was the one who recommended me to see an allergologist.

3. Saw a dermatologist who also recommended to go and see an allergologist.

Now, I am planning to see a rheumatologist (maybe I have lupus?), endocronologist (maybe it's my thyroid?), or go see another allergologist (perhaps the first one didn't try hard enough?).

You see, we are not very rich but our family sought medical help from the best doctors in Cebu to heal my dad but we still lost him. I am torn between just doing this all by myself or getting medical help. My only other options are to try meditation, acupuncture, detox, supplements, and following a certain diet (aka paleo or keto). But honestly, I do not know what to do.

Help me.

Thanks,

Janine

Hello Janine,

I'm sure you understand that no-one on this forum could tell what the cause of your symptoms is, but maybe the LupusUK leaflet on symptoms and diagnosis will help you be clearer about what to look for and what tests would help determine a possible lupus or other systemic auto-immune disorder? Here it is lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...

You've obviously been struggling with this for some time, so my thought would be that it would be well worth seeing either a rheumatologist or an endocrinologist (as you say, the symptoms you describe are quite non-specific). Having that sort of assessment will at least help put your mind at rest. x

Hi Hidden ,

We are not medically qualified here and therefore could not say whether your symptoms may be caused by lupus or something else. Whilst some of the symptoms you mention are common in lupus, they can also be common in a few other conditions.

Requesting a referral to a rheumatologist for further tests and investigations could be a good idea. Whilst some of the complementary therapies you have mentioned may help some people manage some of their symptoms, if you do have lupus they will not treat this underlying cause.

If you need more information about lupus, we have our full range of publications free to read and download at lupusuk.org.uk/publications/
