Really Embarrasing Bowel Problem (funny, but not when it happens to you)!

Please don't read this if squeamish, because there is quite a bit of detail. You have permission to laugh, but I'm not joking!

Tonight is the second time my toilet has been clogged by a large poo that can't get around the u bend. I'm not constipated, and the bowel movement isn't hard or painful to pass, but it has a clay like consistency that just won't flush. It passed so easily that I was surprised by the size.

The first time I attacked with the toilet brush, eventually getting it flushed, but was left with a ruined brush. This is the same, so I got some large kitchen scissors and Marigolds. The scissors couldn't slice, but managed to cut it up in sticky clumps enough to get it down. It really is like clay or plasticine.

I'll be seeing my GP about this. I have been diagnosed with eosophagul and dysmotility problems. Over the last few weeks I've had periods of diarrhoea with nasty accidents, I've eaten very little this week, with no appetite, and often getting what I eat stuck so it seems not to be able to reach my stomach, and my weight has fallen below my personal danger point (down to BMI of 15.5). Drinking plenty of fluid but have a very dry mouth.

Google searches seem to connect claylike poos to liver problems. I had a full blood work up the week before last, including liver function and have heard nothing back, which is usually a sign all is well.

Has anyone else had this problem? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’ฉ Any practical advice on the plumbing problem? I've tried the usual remedies advised for a clogged loo, but these stinkers cling on. I also have cover for plumbing problems but dread having to call them out because of a big 'un especially as I live alone and can't blame someone else. ๐Ÿ˜ข

Can't make my mind up whether to post this, but oh well.

I havenโ€™t had this problem myself but a neighbour once did. They resorted to using dog poo bags to pick up the deposit. They had a dog poo bin not far from their door so used it.

Good idea to see your GP. They may refer you to gastroenterology to find out what is causing your symptoms. Xx

Thanks GE. At least I have loads of dog poo bags!

Well after laughing at this I raise my hands with a chuckle. I too have this problem haha. no it's not fun but so funny were not alone. I have found that a plunger does a grand job and so does flushing before the wipe. It's a real pain!

I try not to have to much sugar or processed food but you know how the fatigue gets and you just have too sometime. I'm sadly in a fatigue state. but find once I slow down and rest, and eat not as good as I should, I get these poops and sometimes they are sticky, and my gawd wiping is a nightmare.

I also have found that loo roll such as 'nicky' from Homebargains or Farmfoods seem to clog more than B&Ms cheaper but quilted rolls.

Maybe a change in roll would help too? I hope you're giggling away now that you're not alone someone else is going :O how did that humonger poop happen. I swear mine would weigh a newborn.

But joking aside plunger get one and just try to eat that little bit better ensuring all your 5 a day are going in, you're drinking lots of good water not just coffee (Guilty here) and I think it contributes. and a bit of exercise even if it's up and down stairs a couple of times. helps.. hope it helps you too :)

I have really sticky loos and hate it. I am o.c.d. with cleanliness. if i have a sticky one, I have to wipe and wipe but still when going to the loo later on, after having a wee, always go back and wipe my bum and ffs, still poo being wiped off backside. doesn't matter how much you wipe after first going, even with toilet wipes, poop is still there. this is what I have to do now. poo, wipe as much as I can, 10 minutes later, wee, wipe backside to remove the remainder. sounds disgusting but we are talking about toilet habits so thought I would carry on with the laughing aspect to keep us all knowing we are not alone. posts have really made me laugh but toilet humour is one of my bad senses of humour lol. happy pooping. x

Pour a bucket/bowl of water down as you flush. The extra pressure flushes it through....

Hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‚. Only because I understand, some good advice on here. Flush before wiping and pouring water down.

Itโ€™s the wiping that angers me , by the time you think itโ€™s done, more poo ๐Ÿ’ฉ appears and then a sore bum. If any one could see the mess I get into ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Poo bags are a really good idea. Could put the tissue in them then all we got to worry about is the monster down the loo. I swear my poo is human . I may start taking pictures and we could play catchphrase. Say what you see ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃโค๏ธ

My husband has this from time to time. Fibre and eating smaller meals little and often rather than big meals seems to help for him and drinking more water.

Yes, I have. The oesophagul strictures and slow motility remain. The bowel problems have been creeping up over the last few months. What is concerning me - apart from the practical plumbing problems - is how fatty my stools appear to be. Perhaps there's some kind of malabsorbtion going on. The usual constipation associated with pain relief can be sorted by lactulose, but I haven't been constipated in some time, and haven't needed it.

Definitely one for the GP

I do relate and you certainly aren't alone - and I only laughed at some of the replies and in solidarity (forgive the pun).

Pancreatitis can cause malabsorption and clay like stools - as well as liver issues. I'm guessing that, as autoimmuners, many of us will have similar gut and bowel related issues to yours. And many of the otherwise healthy population also no doubt - if my recent travels are anything to go by that is (motorway toilets!!)

A solution for sore bums is baby wipes or those andrex things they advertise now. If you're 60 or over, wait for the bowel cancer screening test - that really is a challenge ๐Ÿ˜•

My bowel cancer screening test arrived the week after turning 60. Instant inability to do the necessary 3x in x days! Had to ask for another test!

This post and answers have made me laugh so much but please be assured I'm laughing with you all and not at you all. Been there! It makes me laugh because where else would you find a bunch of people who, in all probability have never met, talking about such a personal thing. Love you guys! xxx :)

Hi my abdomen has been distended for 2 days,it's so painful.I'm able to pass flatusa and drink atleast 8 cups of water per day.I normally go to toilet to poo every morning.Fatigue is taking a toll on me I even asked my physician to prescibe vitamin supplements for me.Yesterday I was crying for no apparent reason.I have been indoors for the past 3 days. It's a month now since I was diagnosed with SLE

Sorry I'm laughing too....only because I've been there more times than I care to remember!

I use a self-catheter too which doesn't help. Ive had bowel accidents, one of which had me carted out of work in my wheelchair wrapped in a fire blanket....I'm sure you can all work out why. I've bought more cleaners boxes of chocolates than their partners have.

As a lupie with GI issues, the first thing you think about when planning a day out, a holiday etc. is where are the public loos and how clean are they.

I've even blocked the main door to the loos in a pub, stood with nothing on below the waist, trying to clean myself with wet paper towels before carrying on with my night LOL.

But all joking aside, I've learned so much on this site that has helped me (and my GP), not to mention my sanity and in realising laughter has no bounds for us lot!

I hope you get your problems properly investigated and under control, as much as possible. Good luck xx

I try to reach the flush button at the same time as I drop and before using paper. The bucket of water whilst flushing generally gets rid of the more obstinate ones but as I tend to go at night and usually when my husband is asleep, it involves a lot of apologies to wake him up to fill and carry the bucket.

I find it helps when there is no trace of limescale in the pan which can cause a drag effect.

The worst one are when I am in my touring caravan where there is no problem getting it in but plenty of problems getting it out through the bent tube which is narrower. My husband despairs of me!

At least now I know I am not the only one!!

I know this problem well. I have upper GI problems (oesophagitis, slow transit, hiatus hernia, massive issue with both bile and acid reflux). If I up the fibre I end up with severe pain behind the sternum radiating through to the shoulder blades (probably linked to the hernia), if I don't have enough fibre I get constipated and the poo problem is worse. I agree with all the feedback. On a practical level I have found a wire coat hanger to prod and stir the humungous mass works better than a plunger - can usually get it banished with about three flushes.

Good to know we are to alone with this one!!!

One plumbing hint. Washing up liquid ( leaving it to work a bit, if you can) then flush or using a bucket of water works! Especially for the really fatty stools. Fairy liquid and glad I live alone ....
