hiya. I had an inner ear infection which causes vertigo when I was in my early 20's. I was off work a long time. I am wondering if past illnesses can be an onset to lupus.

I was diagnosed with BPPV last year and now I am being tested for Lupus. I've wondered about the connection also.

Hi Mandypandy1969 ,
It is believed that viruses/infections could be one of the potential triggers for developing lupus. There are quite a few reports of people who had glandular fever who then went on to develop lupus.
I had glandular fever when I was 18 and immediately had my tonsils removed. I have just started in hydroxy. 200mg twice a day and also put back on a course of prednisone steroids as the injection didn't work. hope meds start to kick in when the course of steroids has been take. 20mg for a week. tapering down by 5 mg weekly down to stopping after the 5mg. hoping I get a bit of relief as the tablets really helped when I was put in on them after my first visit to rheumatologist.
