This is the second time in 5 months my gland has gotten infected because of a stone. Last time antibiotics have helped, but my doctor reluctantly gave me antibiotics again put me on metronidazole which seems to be making it worse or no difference compare to the different ones I got before when I had to go into hospital because of the pain. I'm away on holidays tomorrow and I'm so stuck on what to do, it's Sunday atm I don't know if I should go into the hospital and try to get a different make the swelling has gotten worse and a lot more sore throughout the night? Any help would be appreciated, I can't eat or hardly drink without it swelling half way across the side of my mouth.

Sorry I've never experienced this myself, but have you had a parotid ultrasound yet? I certainly think you should do something before you go on holiday!
Yeah I had a ultrasound few months ago which showed a small stone, so they didn't think much of it and just said to basically deal with it. Yea thinking of phoning the out of hours and maybe try get a different antibiotic.
It may be worth getting an emergency apt (explain you're going on holiday) because a lot can change in 2 months with stones, infections etc. Do you have Sjögren's? If so it's particularly important that the doctors or emergency dentists know this and that it's checked out properly - especially if the antibiotics aren't working.
Metronidazole is a strong antibiotic so, if it's not working, then it may not be an infection at all. Just a thought.
