My doctor recently prescribed aralen to me since she said I can't crush or break plequnil in half and with this medicine you can crush it . Is or has anyone been on this ? Any side effects?

Hi Julie9627 ,

Aralen (chloroquine) is not prescribed very often now because hydroxychloroquine tends to be better tolerated, but it is occasionally used in addition or as an alternative. It tends to work better and faster than hydroxychloroquine but is a higher risk for damaging the retina, therefore it is important that you have regular full-eye checks with an ophthalmologist every 11-12 months. If you experience any vision problems then see your ophthalmologist.
