Any help for persistent pain and cramps

May be an old wives tail but try peppermint tea it helps me !
Heating pad/cushion applied to your abdomen area. Sit back and relax with your tea
My Dr prescribed me with pinaverium, talk to yours and see if there is something similar he can prescribe to you.
Maybe you can identify if some particular foods or spices make you feel worst ... my big enemies are pasta (wheat), hamburgers, hot sauce, coffee, cumin, curry and things rich in fiber as spinachs, cabbage, aubergine/eggplant, bran, wheat germ. Potatoes and rice are most welcomed in my dish. I know this from trial and error LOL.
I suggest you to report your symptoms to your rheumy/GP, some of the lupus meds control inflammation in our bodies.
Be well soon!
Thank you so much for your reply. Have tried all the normal mess probiotics digestive enzymes but nothing really helps!!!!
My GP has just referred me to a dietician who will hopefully help me follow a diet specifically designed to help those with IBS called the Fodmap diet. Perhaps you could ask your GP for help with this too. It's supposed to be hard. But if you're like me then you will be desperate enough to try anything that might help and this diet apparently has a very good track record for helping IBS sufferers.
Am already using the FODMAP Diet it certainly helps but is very restrictive!!
Heck - you're brave! I was on the Autoimmune Protocol Diet for a few months but have eased up now but not entirely. That was restrictive but this Fodmap diet looks worse! That's why I wanted to see a dietician this time so they can help me work it all out.
The AIP diet just seemed to aggravate my dysmotility but then I did end up eating rather a lot of dried fruit!
Do try it certainly cut out garlic, onions, all spicey food. I only eat berries and small portion of orange or banana. Haven't had an apple in 4 Years.
Hi diedre
Good luck with the Fodmap diet, it is hard but I hope it's helping!.
Two other drugs your GP can prescribe separately that can help with pain are Mebeverine or buscopan. X
Hi everyone, this the first time I've posted though read everyone's comments every day.
I've had lupus for almost 30yrs with the highs and lows we all suffer but for many years I suffered most with gut and bowl problems. I had cameras everywhere and all the consultants confirmed IBS
Three years ago sadly my mother passed away after which I became very depressed, my GP prescribed Citalopram and within days my gut problems disappeared. After speaking to my gp about this she said that many patients said the same.
Though I no longer take this drug for depression I still take the minimum dose daily for ibs. I've been clear for 3yrs now so for all you poor people out there suffering ibs this could be the answers.
I've not read all of the suggestions on how to relieve the, sometimes debilitating cramping, with irritable bowel disease, I also have tried everything under the sun with no success. Many yrs. later while my Dr. was threatening a feeding tube because eating caused so much pain, he prescribed a medicine called Bentyl. It literally causes your intestines to slow down and stop cramping. Now 20 yrs. later and I will, when needed, use this medicine. If you've tried everything else give this a try.
