My 10 year old daughter has one autoimmune condition but now also has lots of lupus symptoms and is waiting for an appointment with a consultant. In the meantime I am wondering, can the butterfly rash look like sun burn just under the eyes about 1cm down on both sides? This is what my daughter has at the moment (for a couple of days) but obviously I am now looking for symptoms so it maybe absolutely nothing.

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is unwell.
I'm afraid that we are not medically trained here and so could not comment on whether her rash could be a malar 'butterfly' rash or not. The presentation of this rash can vary somewhat between individuals, but there are other potential causes of a facial rash too. Take plenty of photos of any rashes so that you can show the consultant.
