Consultant gone on holiday forgot to see me first!....

So my consultant rang me about 10 days ago as had to stop my azathioprine for second time as it had raised my liver enzymes approx 10 times normal! He said he would see me before Easter to start me on something else as he's away for Easter so didn't want to go away without sorting me!

Well... He's gone and forgotten about me 😢😢

I spoke to his secretary today and she wasn't too happy that he'd gone without sorting me as I'm struggling and now got to wait atleast another 2 weeks feeling like ****

😤😤😡

I know they are busy and have so many patients but he always rings me personally and knows I struggle cos I have a 1 and a 4 yr old and the joints that are worst are my hands and wrists which make everyday things hard, and the fatigue! The last few days by early afternoon I'm suddenly and totally exhausted.

Sorry to moan everyone! X

Oohhh!! How could he forget you!! I'm so sorry that happened!! How tough for you! I wish I could be there to help you with the children!!

I don't think you did any extra moaning at all. You simply said what happened. But omigosh what a tragedy! He should have had a note about you on his schedule, but maybe he never looked at his schedule. I hope you can get some help to your home for when you're ready to drop from exhaustion. Maybe if you use this site's function that shows people that live near you, somebody that lives near you will volunteer to help with the kids? I hope y9u get the help or the energy you need.

SaraA ,

This is unbelievable! Can his secretary advise you about speaking to a 'stand in' consultant, his registrar, ... or even a rheumy nurse? I am so sorry you are dealing with this & also with the aspect of being let down by someone you were depending on to give you advice. I'm sorry that I have no other suggestions. Take care, get as much help as possible & I am hoping that you will have a little relief if at all possible.

Peace & love Pixiewixie

😲 that's terrible!

Is there not another member of his team that could help you? It sounds as though you've waited long enough already.

Could the secretary email him and he could get the other member of his team to see you and treat you on his behalf in his absence?

I hope you get something sorted.

Oh my goodness! What a mistake to make! I bet you feel let down and frustrated and rightly so. If you are flaring it struggling to cope and need advice I would telephone the secretary back and explain. Push the fact that you were promised this appt and have been let down but you need to speak to someone or see someone. It could be a more junior doctor or a Rheumy nurse or if you have one locally a lupus nurse. Otherwise how helpful is your GP? You cannot be left for another two weeks like that. I hope you get somewhere and please let us know how you get on. Best wishes.

So... Am feeling bit bad now, the secretary rang me today to say my consultant is coming in a day next week from his holiday to do an extra clinic!

I was like oh god not just for me! Thinking, I'd feel bad if he came back in just to see me! She said there are a couple of others too so don't feel so bad but still a bit!

So I obviously wasn't the only one he forgot to sort out!
