So fed up...

Hi, a few months ago I was started on bupronorphine patches for pain relief and had a fantastic response with my pain (I have sle and aps) mainly affecting my hands and thumbs which meant I could hardly pick my baby up!

In the last 4 wks I have started having skin reactions to them, as I was so reluctant to stop them I tried taking an antihistamine to control the reaction as really did not want to stop the patches!

After the last patch site blistered I had to see the gp who has tried a different brand but still the same reaction. I have an appointment to see him again and I really don't know what they can try now. I can't tolerate liquid morphine as required because I can't drive and having 2 very small children it's not possible.

Anyone had this problem and what have they tried next?? X

I'm afraid I have no solution but a gentle hug. Having two little ones and being in pain is very difficult. Which strength are you on?

My patches make the skin underneath very irritated, and when I remove them, the skin is like a brillo pad. No blistering though, just overscratched skin after they come off - while wearing them I do my best just to gently rub on top. For me, an antihistamine helps. I do hope your GP can find an alternative . The patches are so helpful. I asked about the strength because the kind that I tried which were twice a week were unbearably itchy and caused blood blisters. The once a week, weaker ones, are more tolerable for me

They were 10mgs, as each time the reaction just got worse. After 2 days having it on they just itched.

Just seen dr he's put me on zomorph 10mgs modified release ablest one twice daily. I really hope it helps! More tablets tho!! Think am up to about 20 a day!

Thanks
