Hi everyone!

Not sure if this could be Lupus related but I can't shake this chill. I have on two tanks, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, jacket, long socks, jeans and a jacket and I'm indoors!!! I took my temp and I'm at 96.3. 98 is normal for me. I'm freezing!!! Anyone else get this?

I will occasionally run a temp in the 96 degree range, too. I've heard of this happening to others as well. I've found the chills get really bad if I'm experiencing swelling/edema. There was a time I was in 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of pj's, two sweaters, a hoodie, AND a robe and still couldn't get warm. I recommend warm baths!

I feel like I'm falling apart! My whole body is covered in a rash, now this! I guess it could always be worse. Thank you for your input!

I always thought this was a thyroid thing with me - hadn't realised it could be lupus related. My body temp sits at around 36.2 most of the time and was told a low temp is normal with an under active thyroid. Weirdly my temp also goes down further when I'm not well rather than going up but nobody has ever been able to explain why to me - it's been borderline hypothermia in the past which shocked my doctor when they took it and they thought their thermometer was broken!

Trying to think of there's anything that helps - if you have a hot water bottle put it on your chest or I use the hand warmers and pop them in the top of my bra as it seems to help if I keep that central core warm. Drinking hot chocolate or similar to warm up from the inside, similarly eating porridge. Beyond that I usually go to bed as for some reason the one place I'm instantly roasting is if I lie down in bed - I often kick the covers off even if the room is freezing. Oh and socks! Keep your feet warm helps - ill even put my uggs on when I'm shivering like that.

Hope you feel better soon x

Hello! I tend to have the same thing... I on average run a below than normal temperature and even if I do get sick, I very rarely run a fever! When my temperature get super low, I get really bad chills and a warm bath is what usually warms me up. I sleep with a heating pad every night to keep me cozy... I have no idea why my temperature is like this.... It could be a low thyroid level. Never been checked, even though I should be soon because I have a few other symptoms that lead to me having low thyroid or if it is lupus related. Hope that helps!

Oh... same thing here. I'm always cold and complaining about the office temperature, but I do have hypothyroidism and SLE. 37 C is feverish for me :)

It only improves when I take steroids or wear everything I can LOL.

Have they checked your thyroid?

Yes! I'm actually hypothyroid and just got my levels checked and they are in normal range.

It's going to be a brutal winter I'm afraid!

I tend to go for a brisk walk when I am like this, as heating as no effect other than to de-hydrate me even more than I am. I know that the body can only detox when we move as there is no pump for the lymphatic system like the heart for the blood system other than movement. It also helps my circulation, too.

I am also hypothyroid and was diagnosed with that July of this year. I know my levels are good for my thyroid since I just got that checked. I was wondering if it is Lupus related. My temp has always been above 98, just now for the past week or two I am noticing I'm wearing flannel pj's to bed and that is not like me. I was wondering if this is Lupus related. I am keeping a journal to show my rheumatologist in February when I return. Thank you all for your suggestions. Some really great ideas!

I get that cold feeling often, I now know when it's away to start mostly evenings, so I get as hot as possible two hot water bottles thick robe and electric blanket on. I end up chattering and skin goose bumps very jaggy to touch skin.. So heat up quick usually takes a couple hours to feel ok again. Hope you get your solution. X
