Intense burning sensation in the sun

Hi all. I have read people with lupus can not stand being in the sun. I find I have to plaster my top half in factor 50 as I feel like I'm on fire but I don't go red or peel so can't actually be burning my skin. Is this a condition caused by lupus? Not been diagnosed but gp and kidney specialist both agree it's possible with all my conditions.
