A blinding headache that ends up with nosebleeds.

I normally have a blinding headache. It normally start with pain 4rm the back of my head and then moves up to the top and front part. I end up having a nosebleed the next couple or more days. I wonder if their is a link btw d headache and nosebleeds. When i was around 7yrs to 12year i have had regular nosebleed mostly during dry seasons( in nigeria) but i then had nosebleed every day for 1year. After that i had some leisions in my nose. One after another. If it starts in the left part it stays for a couple of weeks and when it goes down the right one starts to grow. I was a puzzle for those drs in nigeria. I had an EEG scan then but nothing was found. Lupus wasnt in the list of my diagnosis. Infact nothing was diagnoised i was just give diazapam every night and asked to pray (thank God my mum prayed). At a point i discharged red oil-like substance from my anus consistently for more than 48hrs and nothing was found wrong with me. Some pple said i was seeking attention. I could not kneel my joints where bad i had issues with my chest which was called prolapse of the valve. I was expected to outgrow it or have a surgery when i become 18. Lupus was inexistent to me of my drs at that point.

For years i have not had nosebleeds until 4yrs ago. I did tell my drs here in england but it was said to be normal or wasnt so important (nothing was dn about it.). Since last yr it has bcome more regular but now it comes with a blinding headache, dried and stiff nose difficult to breed then at d first sneeze or a bend downwards, the blood rushes out of my nose. I can even taste it in my mouth and can cough it out from my mouth. So now whenever the bad headache comes i know what follows. My mum smtimes says that it is bad blood from my head and that it is good the blood comes out after the headache ( i know she doesnt believe that she justs wants to calm me down). Pls if anyone is going through the samething can u tell me how u manage it and do i need to be more concerned about it.

Thanks and God bless

Xx. Ije

Hi Ijeaslike

You need to tell a doctor as soon as possible about the headaches and nosebleeds. Could be to do with blood pressure I don't really know but any bleeding like that should be investigated!. You could also become anaemic as a result of it too. Good luck. X

Totally agree. Headaches and nosebleeds are indicative of high blood pressure. See your GP pronto and avoid ibuprofen or aspirin unless the GP gives you the green light x

Asprin is part of my regular medication. I take it bcos of my chest pain and it is on repeat prescription.

Aspirin made my nosebleeds much worse as it thinned the blood so much. I took it on prescription for this purpose as my blood is too thick/ sticky. I had to stop using it. I used to wake in the night and find my pillow soaked in blood. I go through stages of nosebleeds when my nose gets too dry and lesions form at the top near my sinuses. This is mainly in winter time when the central heating is on. I do have high blood pressure too and the nose bleeds have lessened since I started medication for this.
