Rheumatology appt today.

I had my rheumatology appt today and was pleasantly surprised how lovely she was considering my last one a few years ago, she was kind, empathic probably to do with the fact I burst into tears (eeeeekkk) and just so thorough, she did the test with the eyes with strips though gritty eyes there was enough tears.... I already told her that haha, anyway the suggestion is sjogrens with everything going on she gave me a steroid injection and said if things improve with the steroid injection then she will try me on hydroxychloroquine, which is a safer bet than constant steroids she said. I have to see a skin specialist due to the fact that I have quite a rash over my body, especially face and the rash burns me with sun sensitivity, she wants to see me again after seeing the dermatologist in two and half months but wants me to keep a record of the effects on a daily basis. I finally feel something is being done and am being taken seriously. She was a bit concerned that because of the steroid the rash may be gone by the time I see the dermatologist but I'm just grateful that hopefully I will at least get some quality of life back again. Though the suggestion is sjogrens she wants to make sure it's not the fibromyalgia and M.E though she said that the anti ro positive result is not due to thyroid or Fibro and M.E she said my immune system is wayyyyy too sensitive. Just feeling very much relieved, sorry it's taken so long to get back to respond from an earlier post I did but now I have more news.

That sounds really positive Michelle, glad your appointment went well & hope things improve after having the steroid injection - I've found them to be a great help.

I know just what you mean about the relief of being taken seriously.

Good luck with the dermatologist xx

Hi happykins, thanks for you response, just wondering did you feel the difference almost immediately when you had the steroid injection?

Hi Michelle, yes I did the first time particularly, as the relief was so obvious. They're still helping 18 months later but the mepacrine is making a difference too & so the benefit isn't as dramatic. I'm really looking forward to my next one :) Enjoy the relief & I hope it lasts for several weeks. Feel free tp pm me if you want a chat xx
