This Sunday is my cousins 14th birthday (can't believe she's that old already )

She's invited me to go bowling and cinema with her mum , dad and sister . I've said I'll go .

Bit worried about the bowling aspect as I have arthritis so wrist sometimes lock and fingers hurt .

Hi Loulamb

I think it would be fun to go. You can buy wrist supports which have a metal insert to stop you twisting too much. Also you could use the ramps they have where you push to bowling ball down instead of throwing. If you really don't feel you can do that I am sure your cousin would be very happy to have you there cheering her on 😀 Xx

I suggested to my mum that I'll probably use the Ramps x

Just go for it Lou - have fun - doesn't matter how good or bad you are. I was hopeless at Bowling BEFORE I got arthritis so you can imagine how rubbish I am now but still enjoy the atmosphere. Laughter Is the best medicine!!

I'd explain first that I might not be able to bowl much. You can have fun without hurting yourself.

I've been with my kids and nieces a couple of times. The first time I was determined to manage and suffered greatly as a consequence! The next time I ignored my pride and used the ramps. I also got the kids to help me lifting the bowls on towards the end. They loved helping and I enjoyed it too so go for it! Xx

Have you thought about doing a granny bowl or they have stands you can put ball on then push it down the ramp. Go have fun.

You know...use both hands and heave it from between your legs.

Might have to try that 😂

Give it a go! You ever know until you try. What's the worst that will happen? You spend Sunday in bed resting? I have to say, when we go bowling as a family now, I don't bowl. I have OA in my hips and tendon problems in my wrists, so it doesn't agree with me. But I enjoy watching my husband and children play. But as I said, my advice is to give it a go. Don't give up before trying. Have a great time. Have a giggle with your family. You deserve it.

Just realised I wrote Saturday instead of Sunday . I will use Monday to rest if need to . As from next Monday I won't need to get up early for school
