Hi guys.

As you know I am due a home assessment for PIP. Has anyone had one? What does it entail? Do they look around the house? Do you have to dress, prep a meal or anything in front of them? Any insight would lessen my anxiety on this.

Love to all

Hi there, I had a home assessment. Dont worry, it's the same assessment as it would be in a centre! No observations apart from the usual bending/mobility ones. If anything it was more relaxed as it was at home and I felt I had the time to fully answer questions. I had a friend sit in on it with me. Good luck! xxx

Hi Footygirl, I had my assessment at the assessment centre & to cut a long story short, was awarded 2points less than I needed for pip. I went to tribunal & got awarded a further 5points & payment was bk dated from the start date of my claim. On my journey b4 tribunal I did a lot of "investigating" & came across info on been accessed at home.

Some tips for you; have someone with you. Let the other person answer the door & make cup of tea etc. If your not up to showering & dressing because of fatigue due to the stress caused by the assessment, then don't dress. Stay in your pj's. If you have aids round your home they may want to see them. Make sure you tell them if you have help cooking meals & doing housework etc. Or if meals are brought in for you. If they ask you to stretch & bend, only do it if it doesn't cause any distress to you. Remember your been assessed on your bad days! Also you can have the meeting recorded, which is what I wished I'd had done. Also be careful of what you & your accompanying person talk about if the assessor leaves you alone & leaves her/his bag in the same room as you. Hope some of this info helps Footygirl. Good luck

Thanks Smudge

Thats good advice especially the recording ones. I recorded my Lupus interview so will do the same. I will be aware of the left handbag too. Good tip. My husband will be with me. We have gone through our copy of my returned PIP booklet once and will do so again to pick up anything that was less talked about etc. My aids are all on show so thats ok.

Ta for your good wishes. I will bite my tongue so as not to betray my disgust that these hoops have to be jumped through, ha or not, but you get my meaning.

Think of me on the 10th guys between 10.30 and 12. Your strength will get me through.

Love

Good luck Jen, you will be great and with hubby for support that goes along way with feeling that little more relaxed although nervous totally understandable who wouldn't but really good tips from Smudge.

I have put the reminder in my phone of your appointment and will be sending good luck vibes to you. Please tell us afterwards how it went on the day.

Remember don't tidy the house too much unless you have a cleaner.

All the best.

Take care love Nicola. Up the saints and the pool.
