I had this prior to my diagnosis, during my last big flare. I work in a school and kept thinking I had picked up nits. I got my husband to check nearly every night. No nits. The crawling sensation went when the hydtoxychloroquine started to work. Weird but true. Are you flaring now?

No flare up just irritating.Got my husband to check nothing there just a few red spots due to scratching.............really weird.Thank you for reply

I also get itching under my skin a lot, its very intense when I am in a flare. I get the head itching which makes me look like I have lice as I was always scratching. someone on this site mentioned ginger shampoo from the body shop which helped her, so I tried it and it has made a good difference to the intense itching on my scalp. I now use it all the time. when I cannot get out I order it on line from the body shop.

Hi, is your scalp flaky and/or sore, or just the sensation of itchy? I've got a real itchy flaky scalp like really bad dandruff. I'm using Capasal shampoo and Betacap scalp treatment. It hasn't got rid of it, but it has reduced things by about a third so far.

I have this too. No dry flakes or sign of skin trouble - just itchy, crawly sensation in scalp. It's bad just now and seems to go with increase in dry eyes and worsening of small fiber neuropathy in feet and ankles. I'm only on a low dose of Prednisolone now - will see if it worsens once I'm off it in a few months time. I only have a diagnosis of RA and hypothyroidism to date. I use a herbal shampoo, Capasal, I was given on prescription. I use Betacap when it gets really bad and that stops it in its tracks usually.
