Claiming PIPTo replace DLA

Hello fellow lupus sufferers. I have been on Disability Living Allowance awarded for life in 2006, and unfortunately for me I have to apply for PIP because of the way my birthday falls, has anyone successfully claimed PIP and could you tell me how you went about it?

Hi Susan Griff

The DWP are very behind with moving people onto PIP!. As you were awarded DLA for life you will be one of the last to be asked to fill in the PIP questionnaire, sometime next year it will be or longer. My advice would be when you get the form ring the Citizens Advice Bureau or DIAL if you have one and they will help you fill it in. Has to be done a certain way to maximise chance of success!. It's what I'll be doing when I hear!. It's horrible having this hanging over us!. Hope I've helped?. X

Thanks for your advice, I will contact local Citizens Advice Bureau as you suggest. Not sure about DIAL will have to investigate. I've already had the letter telling me I need to apply for PIP, so I am already in the loop. It is quite a worry.

Use the Benefits and Work website (easily found online) you pay a cosy for membership, think it's about £20 for the year and have full access to all their resources. It is an excellent site and I have been awarded DLA and then PIP by following their guides as to how to do it properly. Good luck
