Recently diagnosed with Sarcoid, don't be fobbed off by Drs.

I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis of lungs and liver about 6 yrs ago. Have been really fit and healthy because I played tennis three times + a week, the only time I went to the Dr. was with a sporting injury. I was pro active and went to see if they could check to see whether the sarcoid was active or not. I requested a blood test which when I went back for the results had not included the calcium levels which are an indicator, so I asked for a chest x-ray which the Dr. refused saying I looked well and shouldn't have one unnecessarily. Barely 6 months later I collapsed with heart block and had a pacemaker fitted, (there is a more dramatic story whilst the pacemaker was fitted which I won't go into now), had those simple test been done, the sarcoid would have shown up and I would have been treated. Instead 10 months later I am still recovering and struggling to get back to normal. Moral of the story, if you want some diagnostic tests then insist until you get them, you know your body better than anyone else.
