Rib pain

My right rib gives me pain it comes and goes when it pleases.It is very painful for me to deep breath.

What could it be❓

I have suffered from pain like yours for years. My doctors all say it's part of the SLE process and is pleurisy from the inflammation between my ribs and lungs. Yours may be something different so this is by no means meant as a diagnosis for you. Mine is a sudden stabbing pain that takes my breath away and makes me sit straight up sometimes. I am also having some shortness of breath that my rheumatologist has investigated. It seems to be from the pleurisy as well. Best wishes to you as you try to find answers.

I have UCTD. Yes, I too experience this. I usually get it accompanied by a fever, night sweats and general debility. I have had two chest X-rays which have been clear and am having lung capacity checks later this month. It is really unpleasant. Hope that you manage to get an answer to yours soon.

I get the same and put it down to inflammation. The weather changes from mild and damp to cold and bright with the changes in pressure don't help either. I am just very sensitive to everything and I don't feel doctors that I know can help much. I don't want to risk drugs because I always get a bad reaction to them and in the end suffer more. I trust my body to sort it out and do my best to live as natural a life as possible.

One of my SLE symptoms is intermittent costochondritis (spelling?). I was told this was common in patients with autoimmune disorders. It might perhaps be worth asking if this is what it coud be.

I missed this post, until now. Recently had a few weeks of extreme tightening around chest/ribs area (avoiding bra as makes worse), some shooting rib side pains.

I noticed when it subsides that between my ribs feels bruised.

Does this sound like costochondritis or similar to others?
