Almost 8wks ago I fell down the stairs at home & fractured my spine. My mums v sick in Christie hospital riddled with lymphoma, my dad declared I am NOT his responsibility, I am an adult - even cut off my son asking for help saying his dad should be pulling his weight (hes married with 2 kids as he says - leaves out out teenager), my sister didnt & still hasnt aknowledged it was my 40th birthday last week... so yes Im on my own day n night.
I rang the boss to say the hospital reviewed me yesterday & signed me off another 4weeks & he said hes going to have to replace me!
Im trykng not to get worked up - Ive already experienced the signature warning of an impending lupus flare this week (L anklestifk & sore & switches to R ankle after 2days then woke with most joints sore today) & feel I cant turn to gp for help because she has been plain nasty & unhelpful since I fell & basically being the major part of this stress situation.
sorry, rambling I know, keep taking the tablets right?

hi hun soz to hear wots going on, if youve been sacked then it should go through the rite channel depending on what they say you have been sacked for , i used to be h.r officer , have you not got a H.R dept or welfare person if so contact them, also check ur contrcat of employment for the sickness rules and regs hope ive helped

I had an occupational health review that detailed I will be able to return to my post once it heals, thats why I feel a bit shellshocked!
Hi Nanuuk, no, you don't have to,'shut up and put up.' You seem to be surrounded by some very unhelpful people at the moment. There must be a lot of stress for everyone including your dad, who is obviously worried for your mum. However, you don't have to put up with your GP s attitude, or your work. You must change your GP, even if you have to travel a bit further. Kittykat has advised what to do about your work, so be prepared to fight for your job. Your family crisis is not something I could advise on, but all this negativity and 'back biting,' will impact on you and your mum. I hope for both your sakes, everyone can be try and be a little bit more understanding. But as I said, your GP and work, you can do something about them. I hope you and your mum are soon better.
I was 'interesting' when I told the consultant yesterday whats going on with district nurses, anticoagulant & the doctor, he looked me straight in the face & said 'You really need to change gp, smiled & said these days you CAN do that.'
Well there you go. Your cons, has to stay neutral, but to suggest this speaks volumes and he/she may have heard of your GPs attitude through other patients. That's 2 phone calls you need to make today. Take care.
I'm sorry to see that you are feeling so down at the moment and are not getting the support you need. Would it be possible for you to see a different GP or to change practices? You have the right to complain to the practice manager if you feel you're not getting the support that you deserve. In the meantime if you require medical advice you can call the NHS advice line on 111.
If you would like to be put in touch with someone living with lupus within your area i can provide you with their contact details, they may also know of a support group which you could attend as well as being a listening ear for you.
