Can anyone help me, re getting reflexology. I have had it a few times in the past and found it really relaxing but not since I've had Lupus?
Morning, Reflexology definitely ok for me. No probs at all. Only way you'll be able to tell is to give it a go. Soooo relaxing. Important just to relax after the treatment and not do too much. Also drink lotsa water. At times after I've had the treatment I may get a headache (toxins moving around, leaving your body) but once this goes feel lovely. Would definitley recommend. Would love to know how you get on (if you decide to go). Hope you have a good day.
Hi,I've had several sessions of reflexology while my Lupus has been flaring. Unfortunately,it doesn't seem to help with the Lupus but I've had no adverse reactions. It's a lovely treatment & it helps you feel better about yourself.
Hi, I have had reflexology and found it very helpful. It was a combination of relieving physical symptoms and because I had developed a good relationship with my therapist I was able to talk about the lupus to someone other than my family. Psycologically it was a great stress reliever and very relaxing. I definitely recomend it.
I, too, have had reflexology, but for me, I need to be careful. I can react badly to it - probably need it, but find the suffering too much. Although in the long term can feel better. I often do it on myself, but I muscle test, too, to see if I can take it at that time.
At the moment I can't because I am in some sort of flare-up caused by a bug, I suspect.
It is difficult to advise others, but with an abnormal immune system, I feel I need to be careful not to over stimulate it, as that can be pretty uncomfortable.
We are all different though and apart from reading the experiences of others, do try to do what is right for you and if you start to feel ill during the treatment or feel it is not right for you, then stop straight away. A well qualified and experienced/recommended therapist will know what to do anyway.
Take it easy afterwards.
Thank you all for taking the time to reply. It's good to share experiences on here. I think I will give it a go. I'll let you know how I get on.
I finally got around to having a reflexology treatment. It was very relaxing, I fell asleep almost immediately. I was told that she thought I was dehydrated and should be drinking 2-3 litres of water a day. She also said that my left lower leg / foot changed colour to red - not like a rash but a complete change. But it went back to normal when she finished. I came home and had a nap. I haven't had a headache or any other reaction since, so I am pleased and will be going back. She asked what I was hoping I to get out if it and I just said relaxation and that is exactly what I got. Thank you for giving me the courage to give it a go. Wendy
Hi. I thought I should let you know that I have now had 2 reflexology sessions and am finding it very relaxing. It is not something that I can justify spending the money on every month, but I will treat myself now and again. The lady took a very thorough medical history from me and advised me to drink plenty of water afterwards as I am prone to bad headaches and she didn't want to set one off. The first time she treated me, my left leg changed colour she said, although I never felt anything. She was concerned about it at first but it settled down and this hasn't happened again. So no adverse reactions. I just find it so relaxing I drift off to sleep nearly straight away. When I get home, I want to sleep too. So I write the day off. So glad I took a chance on it. Thank you all for taking the time to reply to me. Wendy
