Had horrendous pain from costochondritis for over a week and then it suddenly disappeared for four days but this morning it's returned and also started with a sharp stabbing pain in the back of my head. Would this be connected or is it likely to be something else? ....all these trips to the doctors is getting awkward!

Having sharp stabbing pains at the back of my head. Has anyone else had this?
Hi Belee, I have had these pains several times. Tried to explain to my GP and Rheumy but they just said it was a head ache. I have Empty sella syndrome and thought it was being caused by that. Anyway up to now I still have this awkward pain and now believe it has something to do with Lupus. Thought I was the only one. Hope you get a solution to your problem. Take care!
Thankyou pipido36.....sorry to hear you also have it but nice to know I'm not alone too!.....it's definitely not like a headache more like being stabbed in the back of the head! .....will let you know if I get any positive feedback! Xxx
I get pains in the head from time to time that feel like someone is sticking a needle into my head. They come on for 5/10 secs but during that time I can't do anything. Sometimes they come in bouts of 2 or 3 and sometimes just one. Really strange and I've no idea what triggers them or why I get them.
Hi also get short sharp pains. I had MRI scan done in August all eas clear but will still see yhe neurologist to see why they are happening. They can be scary sbd so different from from normal headaches. Take care

Thanks for your replies...will mention it at my next appt. xxx
my husband had the same thing recently it was diagnosed as ice pick headaches
i get these too. Can't describe them to anybody...sometimes, the stabbing pain is in my head but also at the same moment connected to another part of my body...so I think its a nerve pain. BUT, I don't know why it happens and its distressing when it does.
