Does anybody get sore/swollen lining of the mouth? Not quite ulcers and doesn't look red but is swollen and really sore to eat/smile or talk. If so, any tips? I have been given Orabase by my GP but that just makes my mouth sticky.

Sore mouth

Hi Jaxqueline, I too get a swollen lining of my palate, right across the roof of my mouth, it comes with no warning making eating and drinking utterly impossible. I'm lucky, it disappears after an hour or so. It is not red, just full of fluid, there doesn't seem any trigger either, or anything that makes it go away. I have noticed that after one of these episodes, I get a flare within a week.
Hope this helps some.
I do yes, or did. I now use Oraldene Mouthwash (£2.50 from Asda) daily and have not had it for well, quite a while now. It has also helped with ulcers as I used to get them regularly. I still get them occasionally but not to the same extent.
Hope this helps
Oh - I will try this but normal toothpaste really stings and brings tears to my eyes and my mouth salivates, does this happen to you. Thanks for your input
Yes, I have even been known to be physically sick as a result of brushing my teeth. Its almost as though the taste mechanisms don't work correctly, if im having a flare I generally switch to kids toothpaste which is not so strong. Thankfully the oraldene is strong tasting but nothing like as strong as lysterene and other brands, can't use those at all. And pleasure, hope it works for you too
Yes, thanks, any insight is good. I get it during/after a flare. However this time I am feeling achy but not in a full blown flare. It normally lasts a week. I have special toothpaste from my dentist which is not supposed to sting but it does. It is embarrassing because I'm sure people think I'm not smiling at them because the cream acts like glue!
Hi I'm having the same at the moment, my dentist suggested Difflam. As I was using corsadyl and she said it was staining my teeth. I have booked to see my doctor as it needs to be on prescription. But I think you can get it from a doctor or a dentist.
Many thanks, I'll speak to the pharmacist and then GP and see if I can get some Difflam. Have you tried baking soda? I might try that in the meantime
Hi - see if your doctor will prescribe Betnesol soluble tablets. You just disolve one tablet in 15ml of warm water and then hold in the mouth for 5 minutes. I have to take them when my mouth is sore and they give you instant relief.
Thanks Prescilla, I will ask
