what is the difference between quinoric and plaquinil tablets?

Quinoric are a cheaper tablet and in my experience do not work, for whatever reason!?

I now specifically ask for and get plaquinil on my repeat prescription.

If you notice a difference ask your GP to prescribe the Plaq.

Quinoric is supposed to be the same as plaquenil using the same ingredient in it as we all know "hydroxyquloroquine" but many people say that the Quinoric doesn't have the same affect its also known to be a cheaper alternative on the nhs to provide rather than plaquenil. This happened to me and I was given Quinoric where it wasn't helping whatsoever so rather than just bear with it I asked my GP to prescribe plaquenil instead because it didn't seem to be helping and was giving me migraines, it shouldn't really be a problem for you either just ask for plaq,and you shall get it.

Thank you very much, I would say these are my observations, but as I am still quite new to all these medications I wanted check what others experienced. Interesting as I have also had a migraine recently on quinoric...........will make sure to change back to Plaquenil.

The Quinoric sent my teethe BROWN - not a great look ! and they gave me terrible pains in my tummy. I threatened to make my doctors pay for my teeth cleaning, they swaped me back the same day!.xx

Hi Quinoric gave me a lot more joint pain its a much cheaper brand i am now back on Plaquenil and a lot better ,

try to change back good luck x

Same stuff apparently in both tablets but with different fillers ...thats what my gp told me. The chemist sent me quinoric one time and it gave me stomach cramps, diarrohea and nausea. I phoned my gp and she made sure Plaquenil was on my presciption rather than hydroxychloroquine....havent had a problem since

Hi janey, i posted a little post about the same question a few weeks but, if you can have a little read it may help you with your answer, i didnt know the facts about the difference at first, but learnt rather quickly after a bunder with my meds.

Thanks so much, I am finding all this quite confusing, and then thought I had worked out the difference, but the plaquenil I had were yellow and the quinoric white, and then old plaquenil which were white, and I can no longer work out what I took when...but judging by all the advice plaquenil are the best bet. Does anyone know if the colour makes a difference?

I was given the cheap version by chemist a while ago and noticed a difference but thought it was in my head! I was then given plaquenil.and felt better. I have just had 2 mth on cheap version and ended up in hospital. I asked GP yesterday for my prescription to state plaquenil after reading comments on here. She just got her drug book out and said they were the same so wouldn't, just told me to mention it to consultant. I am now going to ask chemist which they give to find 1 that gives me plaquenil.

Hi all same here im on planqinell, pharmacy gave me quinoric, which i took and made me ill, rung the pharmacy and was told they dont make money on planquinel, i rung my rhumy who told me about all the fillers (silica) and faxed a letter to my local pharmacy telling them i have to have planquinel, i take 400mg and my tablets are the coated white ones, my rhuemy was not happy about the bad attitude i received of the pharmacy when they gave me the quinoric instead of my normal planq and she wrote a complaint x hope this helps..the lady at the pharmacy was very brasen in stating the fact that shes not making money on me laking the better tablets, and when i explained the situation she told me tuff,,rhumey sorted it yayyyyy, now says planqinel in massive writing on my file at gp lol
