Hi all. I haven't been here for quite a while but I wanted to ask for a bit of advice from those who had Adenocarcinoma of the lung and have had a Lobectomy. I won't go into what I have been through because it's in my profile but this site has been the only help I have had although I now have a new Dr. so maybe ...! Does anybody who has had an upper right Lobectomy have any problems with their speech and breathlessness? I get very shaky in my speech as well as very breathless. I am due to go to hospital on Friday for a Gastroscopy because I have had bleeding from the bowel and terrible pain although I also have Diverticulitis and 2 fractured vertebrae and Osteoporosis. Just a wreck! Notice I avoided the word old ! When the fracture's were first Xrayed, I was told I had bone cancer and my Dr. said that he would be with me till the end! 5 day's later he rang to tell me that I didn't have spinal cancer but our hospital had reviewed my Xray and I have Osteoporosis! As they had left me with lung cancer for 15 month's and had not told me or anybody else, I don't trust them. I have awful pain, back and front despite Oramorph and Opioid's. They have not given me any advice or support so , even now, I don't trust them! Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you. Take care all . Love and hugs, Danni x

Questions, question's ... problems 4 year's after Lobectomy !
Hi Danni,
So sorry to hear about your health problems. In addition to your lung symptoms, It sounds like you are struggling with multiple health problems which must be incredibly difficult for you and your loved ones. It is good that you have returned to the forum in order to share your experience and gain tips from those going through similar challenges.
It sounds like you have ongoing lung symptoms with breathlessness and speech difficulties. It would definitely be worth discussing this with your respiratory team, Pulmonary rehabilitation can take a long time and input from the team is essential for keeping track of any new potential developments and managing existing symptoms, for example physiotherapy for breathing exercises often helps things. These two leaflets may be helpful for managing your symptoms

You don’t specify in your post where the pain is that you are experiencing, but much can be done to manage pain and I would ask your GP to carry out a pain review or refer you to a pain specialist to try and get on top of things.

Oh dear, you really are going through the mill. It's been suggested that I contact you because I use Oramorph, but my problems are far less than yours. I also use Zomorph which is a slow-release version so the morphine is gradually released into the body and provides background relief. Also paracetamol, which seems to work on different pains than morphine, so they work well together.
I'm fortunate in that Salisbury has a very good palliative care team who are very helpful in suggesting pain relief medication. I'd suggest that you ask for a specialist pain relief professional to discuss medication with you - amateurs like myself aren't much use. Sorry I can't give more than sympathy and hope that you can find a solution.
