6 Weeks after end of radiotherapy -- Still having problems! - Comments please

Finished radio therapy, 20 sessions on lung, 1st December.

I'm still very weak, sleeping during the day , try to go for a walk every morning but can only do about 0.8 of a mile.

Are these normal reactions?

Any ideas as to full recovery times?

Hi Beatless it takes time to get over the radiotherapy treatment I was the same as you beleive me it does get easier. I finished my treatment last June and still have days where I feel I need to sleep don't worry it is normal drink plenty of water take small walks and eventually things will improve. X

Thanks, that gives me hope!

Also I am drinking more Orange/Lemon drinks than normal, is this thirst caused by the radiation?

Hello Beatless,

I am sorry to hear that you are still feeling very tired after completing your radiotherapy treatment, as the others have said it is a common to have this feeling of lingering fatigue, to put your mind at rest a visit or chat with your Gp they can give you a check up making sure that there are no other underlying causes.

If there is anything else you would like to discuss you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600

Kind regards
