Hi just wondering if anybody had a similar experience- I had my surgery almost 3 weeks ago and am recovering well. I had 3 incisions of which one had 3 stitches and has healed well. The one where my drain was had only 1 stitch which was removed along with the drain the next day and this one is not knitting together. The other one right on the crease under my left breast is very uncomfortable and wasn’t stitched and again not healing to one side. The district nurses are monitoring it and now an internal stitch is poking through but they said this sometimes happens? There also appears to be a bit of plastic in there but no idea what that is? Got first check up tomorrow so it will be checked then x

Hi,
Your wound will be checked tomorrow and you can ask about any concerns you may have. The stitches under the skin usually dissolve but sometimes they worm their way to the surface. The district nurses will monitor your wound and advise you about frequency of dressing changes.
If you want to talk to one of the helpline nurses, please call 0800 358 7200(Option2).They are available from 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am-4.00pm on Fridays.
Regards,
All the support team at the Roy Castle Lung Cancer helpline.
