Hi arthurpops

Gemcarbo as you know is a combination of chemotherapy drugs, everyone responds and reacts differently to their treatment, but hope you hear from others on the forum who can share their own experience.

The chemotherapy team are very good at observing and managing any side effects that you may have. If you do experience any side effects these are often short term and do resolve when your cycles are finished.

Most cancer centres provide a 24 hour number that whilst you are in treatment you can contact a nurse at anytime who can triage and advise on any side effects you may be experiencing.

This link is from Cancer Research UK on Gemcarbo and what to expect: cancerresearchuk.org/about-...

and this is our information booklet on chemotherapy: roycastle.org/app/uploads/2...

You may be interested in our online support groups and you can view and register for these through this link: roycastle.org/help-and-supp... or you can email our support coordinator Ellen Knapp at ellen.knapp@roycastle.org

I hope you do well on this and you are welcome to contact us if you would like to discuss anything, our ask the nurse phone number is 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600, alternatively you can email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org

All the very best

hi I’ve just completed this chemo as my 3rd line treatment, the first cycle was the hardest for me, I had many side effects so they adjusted the dose for the remaining cycles and I dropped day 8. Also changed my anti sickness meds which helped a lot. It’s manageable and took about a week of rest to recover then I was good for the remaining 2 weeks before chemo started again. I found the gem made me feel light headed like a drunk feeling while it was going in but after I felt fine again

I didn’t loose my hair.

All the best with it 😊

My brother is having this and has just completed his first round - he tolerated it really well - fatigue is his biggest problem at the moment- he takes different steroids for 3 days during the treatment then back to his ordinary ones - he’s 64 xx
