Lung cancer chemo resistant

Thanks for letting me join.

I had 4 rounds of carboplatin with keytruda and 1 infusion of keytruda alone. Had a scan and my cancer is resistant to the chemo. I'm going to be starting a treatment of gemzar in Hope's it works.

What I'm wondering is have any of you folks had a resistant to chemo, and have you had any luck with gemzer?

Hi Bakert

I had two round of Carboplatin and Pemetrexed but they didn’t work. Now on Keytruda and first scan was inconclusive, so won’t really know if it’s working till after next scan end of September.

This is such a vicious emotional rollercoaster.

Dear Bakert

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear your current chemotherapy is resistant to the cancer. Gemzar is a chemotherapy drug available for a number of cancers, and hope someone in the forum can share their personal experience of having this.

Cancer Research UK has provided some information on this that you may find useful:

cancerresearchuk.org/about-...

Not all drugs suit the individual and sometimes it requires to try a different one to see what works and it is well tolerated.

It can be a true roller coaster of emotions; there may be days that you find you are coping reasonably well and other days when the slightest thing can set you off, it can come in waves and sometimes with no warning, you just seem to be in the moment.

There are some encouraging accounts from those that have experienced lung cancer found in this link:

If you wish to discuss anything you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or you can call our freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

Kind regards
