Docetaxel

My husband had all 6 courses of Carboplatin and pemetrexed then maintenance of three courses of pemetrexed. This shrank his lung tumour but was stopped in January as his kidneys showed damage. CT scan in March showed tumour growing slightly and CT in July showed still growing. He is now to start Docetaxel. Has anyone on here had this for stage IV NSCLC? I can only find this chemo used for prostate ca.

It's supposed to be kinder on the kidneys???

Thank you

I have the same question. I am starting dosetaxel on Tuesday because the other chemo was hurting my kidneys. I have stage 4 nsclc and brain cancer.

Dear Goingcuckoo

Sorry to hear your husbands tumour is growing. Docetaxel can be used for non -small cell lung cancer and can be safer to use for those with renal impairment. Macmillan support has some information on this:

macmillan.org.uk/cancer-inf...

Hope his treatment goes well and if there is anything you would like to discuss you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

Kind regards
