Pemetrexed

In our last meeting, my oncologist discussed adding chemo with Carboplatin and pemetrexed to (possibly) extend the effectiveness of the Tagrisso. Apparently, this is based on some clinical trials that are showing extended effectiveness.

His treatment plan was to have Cisplatin and Pemetrexed (chemotherapy) and Pembrolizumab (Immunotherapy). He tolerated a number of cycles but then got a couple of infections at once and was very poorly.

My husband has stage 4 non small cell lung cancer He was diagnosed about 10 months ago and has been responding well to immunotherapy and chemotherapy (3 weekly treatments of pemetrexed and pembrolizubmab spelling maybe a bit wrong?)

After four rounds of Keytruda, Pemetrexed, and Carboplatin a PET scan showed primary tumor had increased in size. My doctor then ordered a biopsy which tested positive for EGFR mutation. I had a three week course of radiation and just started Tagrisso two days ago. All my joints are sore.

I had 4 sessions, the first with pemetrexed and carboplatin. but the following three I only got carboplatin, due to my kidneys giving a GFR reading of 37. The last chemo was 25 Nov and then I had a contrast CT scan on the 28th.

I started off with pemetrexed, carboplatin and pembrolizumab, then moved to maintenance pemetrexed and pembrolizumab, then pembrolizumab only at six weekly intervals during Covid. I’ve been on it ever since (private health insurance). It’s worked really well.

I start on carboplatin and pemetrexed and hope I get another lucky break and it works. If it all goes to pot, at least I enjoyed the summer, thanks to the unusually successful sessions of palliative radiotherapy and will always be grateful for this unexpected bonus.

I am starting chemo and immunotherapy (carboplatin-pemetrexed-pembrolizumab) on Tuesday. I had my right lung removed 2020 had a reaccurance on the lining right area January this year and had radiotherapy but unfortunately I have another reaccurance. Any info would be much appreciated 😘

He's having Pemetrexed and Carboplatin - he's having Pembrolizumab at the same time - finding it very difficult to stay positive at the moment but I never let him see - he suffers from anxiety & depression unfortunately - tough times - Thank you - grateful for any info received x

I’ve just been diagnosed with Metastatic adenocarcinoma of the lung and am starting palliative treatment of Carboplatin/Pemetrexed/Pembrolizumab therapy on Tuesday. This all has come completely out of the blue to me, and I understand very little of what I might expect.

Well the maintenance started well. Got first week in then second week got what I thought was side effects. I ticked them all but by middle of week felt more like a chest infection. Well, after 20 months of combination Pemetrexed and Pemulizimab my latest scan shows some further growth in the lymph nodes, although the primary tumour in the lung is fairly static.

I have now just started chemotherapy maintenance with Pemetrexed. Hopefully the side effects won't be as bad as the combination I've just finished. Still on the Prednisolone for the inflammation of my right lung due to Radiotherapy side effects.

Spoke to oncologist same day of x-ray and he's putting me on maintenance Pemetrexed starting in a couple of weeks. Will be commencing on Folic acid and B12 injection also.

After missing 3 rounds of Pemetrexed chemo (but still receiving pemulizimab immuno) my lung tumour is static but one of the affected lymph nodes in my chest (the only other involvement) has grown - so I've been advised to go back onto the chemo.

Eventually I am going to be started on Carboplatin and Pemetrexed and I badly need to lift my chin off the ground and regain some fighting spirit. Thank you for being here. Please help me. I do hope that life is good for you and there are some positive responses out there.
