Hi Sheena,
Yes, that's a common symptom of lung cancer. My dad dint make it. His hands started swelling 2 month's before he left us. However there could be other reasons too. Plz chk with ur doc. Hold on be strong.

Thankyou sue thought it was connected ..cmy husband finds it difficult getting dressed and holding cups etc .his shoulder is very uncomfoetable as well .waiting. For pet scan results
I have lung cancer and swollen hands and it's a side effect of the medication that I am on. It's worth checking with your doctor as to the cause or another health professional
Thanks for reply .he isnt on any medication yet just waiting for outcome
Dear Sheena
Welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear of your husbands recent illness.
Swollen hands can be caused by a variety of illnesses, fluid retention, arthritis, immune disorders, gout. It is not usually the first sign of lung cancer. Symptoms of lung cancer are usually a cough that does not go away, coughing up blood, pain on breathing, and tiredness.
Waiting for results is such an anxious time, and hopefully you will receive the results of the pet scan soon.
If your husband is still in discomfort/pain in his hands do let your GP know (or you may have done this already)
If you wish to discuss anything you can call us on our free nurse led helpline number on
