Hi sorry to here your news, but keep positive, and just listen to what the oncologist has to recommend, then I'm sure the questions will come to you. Good luck.

Hello Tricia,

It could just be fluid that has built up around the heart. Sometimes, pericardial effusion can be caused by the accumulation of blood after a surgical procedure or injury. I have no medical training but read this somewhere. Sending positive thoughts at this worrying time for a positive result. Moni x

Sorry, Tricia, I was too hasty in submitting my reply before I had finished. I would suggest asking the oncologist if any mutation tests have been done because if results are positive then targeted treatment may be offered alternatively a course of chemo may also be suggested. You didn't say when your husband had the lobectomy as they might wait until he is a little stronger and on the road to recovery. Sending positive thoughts for a positive outcome. Please keep in touch and update us on your husband's progress as there are many members on this site with years of knowledge.

Okay, I just re read your post and saw that lobectomy was four weeks ago. My apologies but can only cite chemo brain as an excuse for my stupidity!!

Hey...Tricia...ANYTHING you can think of..... ok.... write down all the questions and anything else you want to bring up to the Oncol... even if they sound silly to you..ok

I had left pneumonectomy in 2011 and then had to have pericardial effussion (fluid around Heart)

Please let us know how it goes xoxo

We had the meeting with oncologist to discuss hubby's Pneumonectomy and histology results. It came back T3N1M0. The adenocarcinoma spread to lymph nodes and the pericardium. They removed lymph nodes and part of pericardium. They insure if any cancer cells remain. Hubby starts chemo in a couple of weeks. Our 8 year old starts counselling next week and our 15 year old is receiving counselling already.
