lung cancer & phelgm

I was diagnosed with stage 3 in feb. 2021 and proceeded with both chemo and radiation. Wound up with 3 bouts of pneumonitis that was pretty bad. Come late 2022 a scan revealed the cancer was back and growing. I started a tougher chemo regiment with immunotherapy and completed 8 of the 12 treatments before taking a break for cryoablation.

During the procedure, my tumor bled and a frozen blood clot formed. The clot lodged in such a way that it caused me to go into cardiac arrest. Thank Goodness that after 16 minutes I was revived.

I spent the next 5 weeks in ICU, in which two of those weeks I was in a coma. It's been a hard road.

I am now restarting treatment with Keytruda only. My most recent scan showed a much decreased activity.

My question and my concern is the daily coughing up of phelgm that is gray to black and sometimes dark yellow.

My new oncologist thinks it is dried blood. I would like any input on this. It's been going on for months now.

Only a pathology study could confirm this either way. It’s been a while since I coughed up post treatment stuff but based on my experience 12 years ago, I’m inclined to agree with your oncologist.
