Hi all, just wanted to share good news. I have had clear scan results today after being diagnosed with Stage IIIB, non small cell, adenocarcinoma in 2014, aged 43.
My prognosis at the time was poor and I was told I was inoperable, terminal and treatable with palliative care. Discussions were around chances of survival.
Today, the oncologist was really happy and saying it was ‘incredible’ and that the more clear scans I have the less chance of recurrence. He considered we were “almost job done” as I haven’t had any systemic treatment since 2014 (anything since has been targetted). Potted history below:
4 rounds of chemo, radiotherapy, lobectomy (2014/15)
Complete neck dissection, radiotherapy (2017/18)
I haven’t been on any treatments in the intervening periods. I feel so fortunate to be so fit and well and still be out running. I have lost good friends to this disease and know that everyone isn’t so fortunate,
The purpose of my post is to give hope to those newly diagnosed and currently in treatment. Sometimes strange things happen and you get very very lucky - so stay positive.
With love and best wishes
Janey
