Cataract surgery update.

So sorry. I got busy with summer activities and forgot to update. Thanks JeanE for the reminder.

It was as straightforward as you all said it would be. Within 2 days the swelling was down enough to bring things into sharp focus. The eye surgeon said steroids from the lung cancer treatment, pneumonitis, and my inhalers all probably sped up the development of the cataracts as did the Tamoxifen for the breast cancer. The good news is that they can’t affect the implant.

When I realized I’d forgotten to ask about having the lens taken out I was already home. I called the questionninto the nurse and waited a couple hours (read napped) for a return call. The answer? Because I’ve taken my glasses off to read these past 59 years he left me slightly near sighted. Since distance would be a bit blurry because of that with or without the lens I left it in. But I’m rethinking that this week as I will have the second eye done this coming Wednesday. I’ll leave one in and one out.

Even looking out at my garden a bit nearsighted I’m seeing things better than I did pre surgery. Colors are absolutely better viewed through the new lens.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement

The picture is from my garden. We got a book about square foot gardening, I have 2 active 4x4 beds and a friend just built me a new raised bed, the bottom start 3’ up so I can weed without bending over. My herbs are in containers on our deck. Already planning for next year.

Glad to hear it went so well. Aren't those eye drops a nuisance? I was really happy when they were done. We are fortunate that the new lenses are not affected by chemo or steroids. Hope all goes well on Wednesday.
