I was diagnosed with stage 2, had a lower left lobe removed, 6 tounds of chemo and still after 5 years I am in horrible pain from the surgery. My oncologist said from the beginning I would probably be in pain the rest of my life and apparently he was right. I am on oxy and was on soma but now after 5 years they tell me that rules have changed and they don't go together. Is anyone having the same issues with pain?

Have you been referred either to the pain clinic, or palliative care. Both should be able to work with you to get the pain under control. Different pain relievers work in different ways. You need someone who understands the benefit of combining different types of drugs for the best effect - those people are usually not the oncologists but the people who specialize in symptom control.
I have tried it all. Radio frequency ablation, physical therapy, massage and chiropractor. The only combo that keeps the pain bearable is oxy and soma and the pharmacy will not fill both.
Have you seen a pain specialist or a palliative care specialist about the pain? It seems like they should have some alternatives for you if the pharmacy rules have changed. Sorry I can't be more specifically helpful - but I'm sceptical about oncologists having all the answers about symptom control.... other doctors are often better at that.
I have been and I am seeing a pain management doctors. I just spoke to a private pharmacy and once he has all his issues cleared up he will not have a problem filling them for me but it could take awhile. He said thar since I need them and have the history on them he doesn't understand why they won't fill them but it is one a--hole in a chain pharmacy that is miss interpreting the changes.
Sorry you are having logistical challenges like that. I've been discovering that logistics are as a big a challenge as treatment. Good luck with getting it sorted out.
