Massage machine

does anyone have any knowledge or advice on buying a massage machine - preferably one where you don’t need another person to do the massage! (I’m talking about ones that cost thousands btw…). Thanks!

I’m sorry but I can’t see any other threads on this. Maybe because I’m on mobile… thanks

It can be difficult trying to follow different threads on a mobile - but in the meantime, there are two companies you could research:

lymphapress.co.uk - from Compression Therapy UK

hadhealth.com - Lymph Flow Advance

If you can access the LSN website, there is an in-depth article about use of these devices.

I have the Lympha Press Optimal Plus with the pants garment. It’s by far the best on the market as it has 24 chambers which are overlapping. This is a crucial element of the design which is why I personally advise not to buy the cheap versions that are available on amazon. The Optimal Plus also has pre and post therapy options and adjustable pressure settings. If you contact Naomi at Compression Therapy UK she sometimes runs a free 14 day no-obligation trial where you can try with all the various settings before you buy.

I was able to borrow one for a fortnight via my NHS specialist nurse, which was really helpful. I decided against buying for various reasons, but I could equally have decided to get one. So important to be able to trial without cost or compulsion.

The LSN article about compression pumps gives helpful advice. A little dated but still relevant imo: lymphoedema.org/information...

Reputable Pneumatic Compression Pumps sold in the UK made specifically to treat Lymphoedema include

-LymphaPress

-Haddenham Lymphflow

-Huntleigh Lymphassist

These are specialist pumps available ftom the manufacturer.

LymphaPress usually offers a 1 or 2 week trial and often there are trial offers and occasional discount using a voucher from LymphoedemaUnited. If you’re not on their mailing list it’s easy to do on the website.

NB All so-called pumps and masssge machines sold on Amazon and fitness websites are not designed to treat Lymphoedema. They may further damage the lymphatics due to incorrect pressures and sequencing, and insufficient chambers. Damage from pumps not specifically designed to treat Lymphoedema isn’t always obvious until it’s too late/irreversible.
