I had emergency surgery for an hernia that got complicated as my bladder and small intestines were And took almost 5 hours. When I woke up I could not walk but could stand. Two days after I got a terrible pain in my left outer thigh that felt burning. It took 3 wks for me to start walking with assistance. During recuperation my right thigh also gets the burning sensations with like light bolts shooting from my thigh and ants crawling with stabbing pains. I also have a sensation of cold water running down my legs. They did a MRI of my spine and found that L4 & L5 had bulging disk and stenosis but I never had pain or these sensations before. They say I have Meralgia Paresthetica and it would go away. But it has been 5 weeks and the pain is there and the cold water sensation in my legs that I don't know what it is. I get muscle spasms when I walk a long distance. What is the cold water sensation? Why do I have it on both thighs? Will I be able to walk normally again? Is it true it was caused because the nerves of my abdomen were stretched? Thank you

The sensations that you are describing sound like referred pain/nerve damage or over stimulation. If it continues see if you can get referred to a physio who knows about neurological conditions.
