I don't know about anyone else but I have found in the summer as soon as the sun comes out so does my green eyed monster as family and friends slide their feet into their sandals. It's the same with trainers, Mary Janes, anything with a Velcro strap on. I have tried numerous things in the past buying 2 sizes to big, wide fitting shoes but the straps still won't go around my feet.
I had heard that you could buy extending velcro straps in America. I googled it and yes you can but over here only a few shoes had them and they were out of my price range.
But whilst I was on Google I came across this website I had been on it numerous times but I have never thought to go on for this.

I don't know if the link will work but I am sure if you go on instructables website they will have a search bar.
Yes amazon UK sell the Velcro they suggest you buy. But being a skinflint with a lot of old neoprene Velcro wraps it occurred to me that not only could I use the neoprene for fitting out my kayak (that's a story for another day) but I could use the Velcro for making my straps longer but as I don't have any fat /padding on the soles of my feet I can use the neoprene to make nice padded insole as well there's a picture below of my first attempt. I think this is called taking recycling to the extreme
