It is still early days Dojo. Give yourself another 48 hours before applying compression.
Many opinions out there in the medical community. I agree with Lynora - wait a day or two. In theory, you can wrap as soon as acute phase is over (antibiotics kicking in, heat and pain reducing ...). I heard one expert at a conference say 'wait 2 weeks ...'. In the meantime, elevate your leg and do self MLD on the proximal non-reddened areas. If you're concerned, ask the medical team or your lymphoedema therapist.
I had a issue with cellulitis a couple of weeks ago and my leg nearly doubled in size over night and my lymphodema clinic advised to put the compression back on as soon as comfortable so started with just a stocking then added the wrap but making it tighter every day as my leg was getting better.
Have been wrapping my husband's legs for years also have had repeated bouts of cellulitis. Many times rather than using compression bandages we have just put a nonstick pad over the possible wound if there is one and then wrap the rest of the leg with gauze. This gives a slight compression to the leg without any real constriction. Many times in case of cellulitis there is no obvious wound just an area in the leg that leaks lymphatic fluid Sometimes I put the gauze dressing with a nonstick pad then I put the compression bandages over that . My husband has A.Fib . As a consequence he has to take a strong blood thinner which in turn makes his skin very fragile unfortunately this sometimes contributes to abrasions on his legs . Sympathize with what you were going through we all wish we knew for a cure hopefully you won't have to deal with the cellulitis too often good luck
