Hi Bev-1966. I woke up last week with brown in a patch on dorsal aspect and round ankle, just on the left foot. Still don't know the cause although I had a hip replacement on December 12th 2016. Went to the hospital as ankle and foot was very swollen, but there was no information from doctor and my lymphodema nurse has been absent for some time now. Waiting for arranged appointment with surgeon to see what he says. Physio has no special knowledge of lymphodema. Wonder if blood can leak into lymph and cause discolouration?

Hi - I had hip replacement on 10.4.17 in my lymph affected leg. My knee, calf, ankle and foot are very swollen too. Like you I am struggling to find specialist support to manage my lymphodema. However I have had two private sessions of MLD, and am doing SLD as explained in LSN video every hour. I'm also using compression boot once a day (low setting), and wearing my compression stockings of course! This does seem to be helping to keep the swelling constant, though I'd be thrilled if I woke some time soon to find it beginning to reduce to where I was pre-op. Hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks Chrissie2. Some days are worse than others, so I am thinking maybe a food type may be a problem. Going to try using raw garlic as a natural antibiotic and cutting out gluten products for a while to see if ther is a connection. Yes it would be nice to wake up with normal size legs and feet! Hope your swelling gets to be manageable very soon.

I have lymphoedema in my arm and my compression sleeve civers most if my hand except my fingers. I also get tanned on my fingers even though I use factor 50 sun cream. It does look a bit silly when my sleeve is off but cannot do anything about it except wear sun cream so they do not burn. some people use self tanning on the rest of their limbs to even it up. Best wishes xx

Hi Bev - yes, it's a given - you will get a tan on your toes if you are diligent about wearing your compression garments and your toes are exposed to the sun. You are not the only one, obviously. Great toes! :)
