Cycling clothing tips please.....

I have leg lymphoedema and wear a compression stocking, I find it tends to rub against the saddle and consequently my inner thigh. Does anyone else enjoy cycling and have any tips for clothing that is suitable? Any suggestions greatly appreciated as have long charity ride coming up and comfort is king... Thanks

Could you wear a lower leg compression stocking and 'body armour' type cycle shorts that would give a degree of compression to the upper leg but without the extra layer of compression stocking? There are earlier posts somewhere on the site about using compression sportswear and there may also have been an article in Lymphline, try contacting LSN for more info. Good luck and may all your rides be with a tailwind

I don't know how large your leg is, but cycling rapidly became a no no for me, as the rubbing has the potential of causing the sort of skin problems that could lead to cellulitis. If you have to cycle, it maybe a different bike you need rather than different clothes. The frame has to allow you to cycle rub free.

Thank you both for such quick replies, I will investigate further as I am sure a solution is out there somewhere, and giving up cycling is not about to happen as have my charity ride to complete ;0)

I wear compression support stockings and have just started doing quite a bit of cycling but at present during the cold months I have been wearing jeans over the top. I don't have any problems with rubbing against the saddle this way. Perhaps if you were to wear cycling trousers over the top of your compression stocking or even try leggings which is what I am going to do in the warmer weather. Don't know if this will work but it is worth a try. Good luck!

Thanks for your ideas Maria300309 I am currently wearing compression stocking then my long legged cycling trousers complete with padding for my sensitive bits, I find the rub is the top of my stocking on the inner side rubbing with a combination of the saddle and the edge of my cycle trousers padding, very annoying...

Just an update, 100k charity ride completed - great fun with lots of lovely ladies taking part, loads of money raised for ladies cancer charities. New cycling leggings bought with different padding and they seem to fit with the stocking so much better. Leg is liking the exercise so new challenge being sought to keep me in training! Thanks everyone
