Had MLD yesterday in my arm. Swelling mostly in forearm, but today sleeve feels really tight and uncomfortable at the top.

I can't understand why it feels like this today. The MLD appeared to be working til today. I've had three sessions so far. Anyone got any idea why this is happening.

Hi Taffia I have arm lymphoedema but have not had MLD. But sometimes lymph just seems to go its own sweet way as different parts of my arm get achey and sleeve feels tighter than usual for no apparent reason.

I too have lymphoedema mostly in the forearm. Have had quite a lot of MLD and would suggest the reason for the tightness in the upper arm is because the lymph fluid has to be moved up first and then out. With more sessions you should find it goes. Good luck it has certainly helped me a lot and then continuing with SLD afterward to maintain.

Thank you I thought that's what it was but its nice to know that it's happened to someone else as well. Was glad to take my sleeve off last night. Do you still wear your sleeve?

yes, i agree

if you've got nodes left in your armpit, it's worth draining the lymph even more regularly when you're having mld - i do all of mine more thoroughly when i'm doing post-mld sld

& mention it to whoever's doing your mld - maybe they could adapt a bit so the lymph doesn't pool like that, if that's what's going one, or maybe make suggestions about what else could be happening

in the meantime, do yourself a favour & drink loads of water, & you'll need to decide whether to wear the sleeve if it's digging in a lot, cos that'd stop the lymph from going anywhere too

Thanks for that. was glad to take my sleeve off yesterday. I will be having my next MLD on Wednesday and will see what she says, Watch this space!!!!
