HI KMDB,

Did ride but haven't since limbs became to large. But i do have a friend who rode to very recent and is looking forward to returning to this regular, she is currently having her legs reduced in size by Liposuction.

I myself look forward to returning to this at some point this year.

can we help with any questions?

Ninewells.

I ride daily. Have owned my own horses all my life and developed primary ten years ago. Didnt ride much during diagnosis now riding again. Make sure to get horses back and saddle checked frequently as weight distribution not level and I don't compete much anymore as dont want wear cream jodhs but apart fro that I don't let it stop me.

Weight management crucial though, wouldn't ride if I was overweight so I also run a couple of miles daily to keep in shape elsewhere. My left leg still much larger than right with a fibrosis not found a treatment to remove yet. Wont let it stop me.

I have been riding since I was 3, got diagnosed when I was 12 and I am still riding now at nearly 20! I can't use my lower left leg as that is the limb mainly affected by lympheodema! I still compete and try not to let it affect me in any other way! Boots and chaps are very hard to come by that actually fit me correctly :s

I used to ride - but legs far too bad these days - so now have been breeding Welsh Sect A ponies for a number of years, get so much pleasure and it gets me out and doing things, I would probably sit about feeling sorry sorry for myself!!!! Patiently waiting for foal at the moment - a week late! At least the ponies don't look at me sideways and titter and judge me (as many ignoramouses do - when they don't know what is wrong with my big fat legs) I miss riding, hope those of you who can still do it - enjoy it for many years to come.

Hi Louisa 13 . Good to hear you still ride. Can you know have bandaging and Mld for the fibrosis ? I ride most days now am learning to adapt to my one sided ness. My swelling is soft now after the treatment so it pushes out the way. I am lucky and have been able to get my jods and chaps on and I invested in a size bigger jodhpurs boot. I hope I can keep riding I would be lost without it. I often wonder how quickly my leg will progress. I wear my stocking every day from morning to night. Has anyone had successful treatment where their leg is back down to less than 5% difference?

Joannie - I wouldn't have got through the past two years without my horses. They saved me

Fabbs93 that's great to hear. Is you leg sore to use? I have got my old chaps on just stretched the left one a lot. The lower leg swelling doesn't bother me as much as my bum as I think the horses feel the weight in that more. Keep riding
